WHAT IS VENTURING?

Crew 153

  • Venturing is a co-ed scouting program under Boy Scouts of America. Teenagers that have graduated the 8th grade and who are 13 years (up to the age 21) are allowed into the Venturing Crew.
  • This program is designed to build character, promote citizenship, and develop personal and mental fitness in young adults (plus it's a lot of fun)!
  • Venturing brings many different age groups and social cliques together. The more the individuals in the group ask of themselves and of one another, the more possibilities they have for experiences that they'll remember for the rest of their lives.
  • Venturing is empowering because people discover things about themselves they never realized before. Some might not realize that they have what it takes to cross a high ropes course at COPE and others might realize what a natural leader they are. This exciting program helps to overcome fears and downfalls by working together as a team.
  • The students are the ones who run the meetings and make the decisions. There are 5 main officers that hold office for 6 months. The President, Vice President of Administration, Vice President of Programs, Secretary, and Treasurer.
  • The Venturing Uniform is comprised of a spruce green Venturing collared shirt and a pair grey backpacking pants or shorts. Activity shirts may also be worn depending on the crew's bylaws.
  • The 3 main awards that can be earned as a Venturer are the Bronze, Gold, and Silver in that order.
