[UPDATED] BAYLOR MERIT BADGE COLLEGE
baylor_merit_badge_college_150x150[UPDATE] Monitors - Adults who would like to attend the merit badge college with their sons can sit in on the classes and assist the counselor by being a Monitor. Each Troop is required to supply a minimum of two adults to serve as a Monitor for two classes each Saturday. The Troop will pay the $20.00 fee for any adult from our Troop that would like to help with this. Just let us know and we will take care of the registration.

[UPDATE] Everyone participating in the Baylor Merit Badge College, both Scouts and Adults, must complete a release form. The form for the Scout is Form [D: Parent/Legal Guardian Release (117659)]. The form for the Adult is Form [E: Participant Release (117660)].
---------------------------------------

The Baylor Merit Badge College is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 30. and Saturday, Nov. 13. Class sessions will run from 8:00 a.m. through 12:05 p.m. The Scouts will be able to take a maximum of 3 of merit badges. There is also adult leader training sessions available for those interested.

There are some merit badges which require a written report or other long term requirements that prevent the Scouts from finishing the merit badge(s) during the merit badge college. Therefore, this year we hope to start early and encourage the Scouts to have their reports or other long term requirements completed before they attend the merit badge college. We hope this will minimize the number of partial merit badges that we typically have each year.

We will have the Scouts turn in the list of merit badges they want to take. The requirements for the merit badges will be reviewed and the advanced work required, if any, will be noted for each Scout. If needed, the specific merit pamphlet will be distributed to the individual Scouts.

Adults, if interested, may sign-up to be a merit badge counselor and teach a merit badge or sign-up to be a monitor. Monitors attend the merit badge sessions and assist the counselors with maintaining order and supervising the Scouts. Or, there is Scout Leaders Specifics training available for those that would like to take this training.

The Baylor Merit Badge College registration form and the list of merit badge offerings can be viewed and downloaded [HERE]. Please complete the merit badge registration form and bring it to the Scout meeting on Monday, August 2, if possible. If you have difficulty printing the attachments, a few copies will be available at the Scout meeting.

The cost of the merit badge college is $20.00 for Scouts and Adults. The only exception is for merit badge counselors. There is no charge for counselors. Please make checks payable to Troop 153.

Also, prior to attending the merit badge college, there will be release forms to be signed for all attending. Those forms are not available yet. As soon as they are available, we will let you know.

There will be more details regarding transportation, meals, and other information as we get closer to the merit badge college dates.
